Own a dog in Iran? That will be 74 lashes

“The sporadic and politically motivated campaigns against dog ownership are aimed at further suppressing the youth and women in Iran who have, in past few weeks, held protests against the acid attacks on women that have been carried out by state-sponsored gangs.”

In the past year, Iranians have been punished for “crimes” that go against the conservative Iranian laws. In May, six young men and women were given jail time and lashes for creating a spoof of Pharrell’s “Happy” music video and on Sunday, a British-Iranian woman was sentenced to a year in jail for attending a volleyball game.

No wonder progressives love Islam so much.

Here’s another article you might enjoy. I hesitated to link to the Huff Po, but I thought you would enjoy how they insist that dogs are not haram and that the death threats the poor man received are “un-Islamic”.

Woman Faces $1,000 Fine For Pink Poodle
Dog Colored To Help Raise Breast Cancer Awareness
      Boulder, Mar 11, 2008

A Boulder woman has hired an attorney to fight a $1,000 fine she was given by the city for coloring her miniature poodle pink.

Joy Douglas said she colored Cici pink to help raise awareness for breast cancer. The salon owner said she has used beet juice — and occasionally Kool-Aid — for four years now to “stain” her dog.

Douglas is accused of violating the city’s code …

Cici is being stripped of her civic duty,” Douglas said. “And I don’t plan to take it sitting down.”

guns don’t kill people, crazy Islamic extremists don’t kill people, ebola doesn’t kill people, dogs kill people!

      • au1corsair says:

gnome, the “guns kill people” is rare–only uneducated and ignorant primates (aka “Progressives”) don’t get that guns fire bullets and the bullets cause injury and death. Very few people commit suicide by beating themselves to death with their unloaded guns–they shoot bullets into themselves. More people murder others by bashing them with gun butts or pistol whipping–but the number of gun battering deaths is small compared to bullet deaths. If not for the bullet, a man waving a rifle at you from across the street would only be rude, not life-threatening; a skilled rifleman can kill at distances of three or four city blocks because of the bullet. Don’t be Progressive! Argue from facts. Dogs without teeth can’t do much, just slobber all over you.

So perhaps the crazy Islamic “Progressives” could just mandate that dogs all go to the dentist for tooth extraction–oh, that wasn’t the issue, was it…

The real war on women, supported by Skeeter…

“A video has emerged purporting to show Islamic State fighters bartering over Yazidi women at a slave girl ‘market’.

Recently, the terror organisation boasted of enslaving women from the Iraqi ethnic minority and the men appearing in the clip explain it is ‘slave market day’.

The clip shows the men negotiating the price of the women, with blue and green-eyed young girls fetching a higher price.

The men laugh and another says: ‘Today is the day of (female) slaves and we should have our share.’

At this point, the bartering begins after a seller is found, who says he is happy to sell his slave for a Glock pistol.

Sellers offer prices, with one going as high as five banknotes – which subtitles on the clip explaining that one banknote is probably the equivalent of 100 dollars.”

The Islamic fundamentalists are much closer to Christian fundies like John Hagee than secular humanist progressives.

    • European Progressives have been cooperating with the Islamists for more than two decades. American Progressives say that we must make America more like Europe.

Do you have a different Progressive blueprint? Has it been approved?

Bob hopes to make that point come true, just by stating it. Much like he hopes to make AGW come true by stating 97% of scientists agree.

geran, when did I say 97%? I’m not saying Islam is OK, just saying fundies are similar. Take the test:

        • David A says:

Ok, Bob M, give me your list over the last twenty years of Christian extremist atrocities committed in the name of Christianity, and I will give you a list of Islamic extremist atrocities. We will compare them ok? Christianity , and I would not vbe considered a Christian by Christians, is very defendable, and is a “new covenant” with “turn the cheek”, “love ye one another as I have loved you” and “forgive your enemy 70 x 70”.

Islamist have no new covenant and no reformation, and no separation of church and state.

  7. The volleyball lady was not arrested for going to the volleyball game.

    • David A says:

Ok, did she do some evil act?

    • David A says:

Shub, yes she was…”The British-Iranian woman, 25-year-old Ghoncheh Ghavami, who was arrested in Tehran after trying to attend a male volleyball match, has been sentenced to one year in jail, her lawyer was reported as saying Sunday, AFP reported.

Ghavami was arrested for breaching Iran’s ban on female spectators at sporting events.

“According to the verdict she was sentenced to one year,” her lawyer Alizadeh Tabatabaie was quoted in Iranian media as saying, adding that the judge had not shown him his client’s sentence. In addition, no reason was given for the conviction, AFP reported.

The “Free Ghoncheh Ghavami” Facebook page which advocated for her release appeared to confirm the one year sentence on Sunday, but protested the closed-doors legal process that has prevailed in the case, according to AFP.

Ghavami was arrested in Tehran on June 20 at Azadi (“Freedom” in Farsi) Stadium where Iran’s national volleyball team was to face off against Italy.

She went on hunger strike last month after nearly three months in prison following 100 days of solitary isolation in Iran’s Evin prison, notorious for its political prisoners’ wing British media reported.

Ghavami was born in London and later moved to Iran. More than half a million people endorsed a petition demanding the release of Ghavami.
