Greenland Ice Update

The press is reporting that a “decades-old” “Manhattan-sized” ice island has broken off of Greenland’s Petermann Glacier and that “researchers are watching closely.”

What they forgot to mention is that the ice which broke off is only about one-third of the ice which has grown since 2012.

Over the past year the surface of the Greenland Ice Sheet gained more than 500 billion tons of new ice, which is far above the 1981-2010 average.
