Now that we have embarked upon a true fascist society (and I mean that in the old “merger of government and corporation” sense) they are just two sharp ends of the same whipping stick. One of the wonderful things about fascism is that if people complain about the government, then the politicians say, “It’s not US, it’s the evil capitalists!” and if people complain about the corporations, the CEOs cry “Don’t blame us, government did it!”
Hence we get quasi-governmental, quasi-private monstrosities like the Federal Reserve, the IMF, etc.
