New York Times : We Can End Hurricanes By Simply Destroying Our Civilization

BOSTON — The hurricane that struck Louisiana and Mississippi on Monday was nicknamed Katrina by the National Weather Service. Its real name is global warming.

The US hasn’t had a major hurricane since 2005, the longest such period in history.

When the year began with a 2-foot snowfall in Los Angeles, the cause was global warming.

This year, global warming was the reason it didn’t snow in Los Angeles.

When winds of 124 miles an hour shut down nuclear plants in Scandinavia and cut power to hundreds of thousands of people in Ireland and Britain, the driver was global warming.

They never used to have wind in those places

When a severe drought in the Midwest dropped water levels in the Missouri River to their lowest on record earlier this summer, the reason was global warming.

The floods on the Missouri last year were also caused by global warming

In July, when the worst drought on record triggered wildfires in Spain and Portugal and left water levels in France at their lowest in 30 years, the explanation was global warming.

The recovery since then was also due to global warming

When a lethal heat wave in Arizona killed more than 20 people in one week, the culprit was global warming.

Hot in Arizona? Unheard of.

And when the Indian city of Mumbai received 37 inches of rain in one day – killing 1,000 people and disrupting the lives of 20 million others – the villain was global warming.

Rain in India during the monsoons? Unheard of

As the atmosphere warms, it generates longer droughts, more intense downpours, more frequent heat waves, and more severe storms.

More humidity causes it to rain less.

Although Katrina began as a relatively small hurricane that glanced off southern Florida, it was supercharged with extraordinary intensity by the high sea surface temperatures in the Gulf of Mexico.

The 1900 hurricane which wiped out Galveston never found the missing heat.

The consequences are as heartbreaking as they are terrifying.

The consequences of stupidity are indeed heartbreaking.

Unfortunately, few people in America know the real name of Hurricane Katrina because the coal and oil industries have spent millions of dollars to keep the public in doubt about the issue.

The global Accumulated Cyclone Energy index is the lowest on record.

The reason is simple: To allow the climate to stabilize requires humanity to cut its use of coal and oil by 70 percent. That, of course, threatens the survival of one of the largest commercial enterprises in history.

We should destroy civilization in order to make incredibly stupid people like the author feel better for a few minutes.

We had this BS on NZ TV lastnight.

NIWA’s principal Climate scientist and AGW/CC Alarmist James Renwick. He’s equated bushfires in Australia with GW a few years back.

Reports shows increase in natural disasters

    By Samantha Hayes

For the first time scientists say man-made climate change is causing extreme weather events like droughts, heat waves and floods.

Nearly 400 experts from around the world produced a report with evidence human activity and an increase in greenhouse gas emissions is influencing major climate events.

2011 was the year of extreme weather according to the American Meteorological Society’s state of the climate report: last year seven tornados caused $1 billion of damage in the United States, there were record floods in Brisbane and cyclone Yasi hit Queensland – Australia’s most powerful tropical cyclone since World War One.

For years scientists have warned human activity is creating climate change but now for the first time they’ve gone further – concluding it is creating more freak weather events.

“We can’t explain these events by natural variability alone, “says climate scientist Tom Karl “They’re just too rare, too uncommon.”

I maintain that the deportation of all CAGW proponents to the Easter Islands in an appeasement gesture to the gods will also solve the problem of global warming and at a fraction of the cost. But I’m willing to keep global economic self-destruction on as Plan B in case I’m proven wrong with my Plan A since I know I’m not infallible.

  3. Andy DC says:

I guess the lack of tornadoes this year was caused by global warming, as well as the lack of landfalling hurricanes for the last 5 years. Plus the lack of sea level rise, cooling of oceans and the comeback of the Arctic sea ice. Also the lack of warming.

MD Governor O’Malley said we never had storms like this in the 80’s and 90’s. Seems to me we had plenty of terrible storms when I was a kid, we just didn’t have an antiquated, crumbling power grid.

  4. kirkmyers says:

The pseudo-scientists propagating the “climate change” balderdash are turning more nasty in their feverish and ineffectual crusade to resuscitate the global warming myth. They are now acting like petulant school children, screaming “I told you so” whenever Mother Nature flexes its muscles.

Do these scientists-turned-prophets realize how utterly ridiculous they look with each new prediction of global warming armageddon? They seem hell-bent on defending the AGW nonsense until the bitter end, even if means destroying modern civilization. Meanwhile, their already soiled reputations are swirling down the commode. A more proper resting place for their unscientific excrement I cannot think of.

  5. kirkmyers says:

Congress needs to defund NASA GISS and NOAA NCDC. Their unscientific clap-trap threatens modern industry and our standard of living, which is declining fast thanks to the “too big to fail” Shylocks who run the nation’s banking casinos.
