All Large European Wars Occurred With CO2 Below 350 ppm

Europeans have been killing each other by the millions throughout recorded history. Apparently this was due to climate change. Whoever could have known?

Denmark’s Defense Minister Gitte Lillelund Bech about the role rising global temperatures will play.

Future national security problems

Shit Climate change will happen, and that will affect all of us,” Bech said. Already, she said, “climate change is having a big effect on the Arctic region.”

Beyond the challenges for countries like Denmark, Canada and others in the Arctic, she noted that increasingly governments need to think strategically about how they help already-fragile countries facing environmental catastrophes like Pakistan. More than 20 million people were displaced by floods there in July.

“Because you have the flooding, the Pakistani government or society will use all their resources to deal with that — which could create room for extremists,” Bech noted.

From the melting of the Arctic to desertification in Africa, climate change is widely recognized as a threat multiplier. That is, the changes in the hydrologic cycle that will lead to droughts, floods and more severe storms will hit especially hard in areas already suffering from food insecurity, poor infrastructure and unstable regimes.

The past 65 years of rapidly rising CO2 have been remarkably peaceful.

  1. Espen says:

    “Desertification in Africa”? Is that AGW-newspeak for the recent greening of the Sahel region, or are they talking about other parts of Africa? Certainly not Ethiopia, which is in a much better shape now than 25 years ago (remember Band Aid?)…

  2. Mike Davis says:

    The globe has always had climate change and tribes have always fought for possession of property. It appears that lady just needed something to say so others thought she is smart. Politicians in this country do the same dumb thing!

  3. Philip Finck says:

    The below link references an interesting paper. It models dust, Ocean SST, etc with respect to drought in the Sahel region. It concluded that AGW would have the opposite effect, i.e, increasing precipitation, which is the opposite of the observed for the region.

    That is also opposite of what all the `we are all going to die’ folks are saying.

    Noted in another paper that precipitation is very cyclical since records kept in late 1800’s and there is no correlation with CO2 concentration.

  4. Mike Davis says:

    There have been extensive studies of the hydrological cycle in the Nile Basin and headwaters. These studies show the natural variability of regional long term weather patterns for thousands of years.

    Are you going to give us any more “Call of Duty”? a game review would be nice.

  6. Lazarus says:

    Climate change is a threat multiplier and is a serious security issue for more than just the Dutch or Europe;

    I also feel the tone of this post belittles current conflicts.

    • Just like the Nazi siege of Stalingrad, no doubt.

      • Lazarus says:

        I have no idea what you mean.
        Since when did your military expertise, which seems on par with your climate expertise, become more credible than that of the military and military commentators in the video of the link I supplied?

    • Mike Davis says:

      How is it possible that something that is “ALWAYS” happening be a threat multiplier or a serious security concern. How can it be any more of a concern that A volcano erupting which has laid dormant for 5 thousand years or an earthquake. The global community has as much change of controlling future natural climate variations as it does controlling future volcanoes of earthquakes.
      Corrupted data and fictitious reports are a more serious threat to security than natural climate variations because they distort reality and give an unreliable vision of possible future scenarios.
      The entire IPCC organization is a serious threat to global security as it is provoking dissent that will lead to wars.

      • Mike Davis says:

        That was for Lazarus!

      • Lazarus says:

        Mike says;
        “How is it possible that something that is “ALWAYS” happening be a threat multiplier or a serious security concern.”

        The clue is in the question. Anthropogenic climate change, which is what the military analysts are really talking about in case you missed that point, has not “ALWAYS” happened.
