Obama Proposes Poverty As A Way To Keep The Planet From “Boiling Over”

“Ultimately, if you think about all the youth that everybody has mentioned here in Africa, if everybody is raising living standards to the point where everybody has got a car and everybody has got air conditioning, and everybody has got a big house, well, the planet will boil over — unless we find new ways of producing energy,” Obama said.

  1. I think he means capsize

  2. Marian says:

I can see it now. Obama’s poverty to save Gaia.=

All those trees planted on the gass verge for Agenda 21 intiatives being chopped down by the peasants for firewood. 🙂

  3. gator69 says:

So when are Obama, Biden, Pelosi, Reid, Gore, Cameron et al going to give up their cars, large homes and air conditioning? If I had been there I would have been asking him that.

  4. swampsniper says:

Obama envisions Earth as one huge termite colony.

  5. Obama’s greatest failure as a leader is his economic management. I hope this doesn’t happen but I don’t see how it can end well either.

  6. Gamecock says:

“President Obama said the planet would boil if people in Africa were allowed to have air conditioning, cars and big houses, CNS News reported Monday.”

    Allowed?

    • Jorge says:

This is how Obama and the liberals think. They think the government is our Daddy who lets us or doesn’t let us do things.

  7. Kaboom says:

The amenities of civilisation are only for Africans who escape their continent in this man’s mind.

  8. nigelf says:

I wonder how his African audience reacted to his words of condescention.

    • Gamecock says:

      They’ll think about it long enough . . . .

“We thought about it for a long time, “Endeavor to persevere.” And when we had thought about it long enough, we declared war on the Union.” – Chief Dan George, “Outlaw Josey Wales”

  9. The Iconoclast says:

The worst kind of paternalism… not to mention hypocrisy. Well (regrettably) we already have the cool stuff. You guys, for the sake of the planet, you need to stay in your right-sized, low-carbon lifestyles. Some day there may be solar powered steel mills… until then we have some bibles for you, but no food, and definitely no stuff.

  10. Mike says:

So stay right where you are and keep up the good work you poor people. Your poverty and destitution makes you righteous. This guy is pathetic. The only thoughts that could be running through their heads is “I wish I understood English” or “What an A-Hole”.

Problem: “the planet will boil over — unless we find new ways of producing energy”

Solution: Stop lying about the source of energy (E) stored as mass (m) in cores of
    _ a,) Heavy atoms
    _ a,) Planets
    _ a,) Stars, &

  12. Barack… Don’t talk about nuclear and the fact the CO2 does not drive the climate… Keep the poor where they are so they die quicker to please the “green” and the Malthusian crowd. VERY SAD!

I was going to say that for once I am speechless in the face of such arrogance. But no, it’s because you guys have said it so well.

I have lived in Africa and have seen how hard the people work for so little. When you have little energy from fossil fuel you have to do the work yourself. The average human can muster only about 1/7 of one horsepower over a 5-hour period, that’s about 100 watts. In one day maybe one kilowatt-hour, worth about 15 cents. Hauling water can take half this effort leaving not much energy for household chores and childcare.

  14. adrianvance says:

How did I know he would reveal his real strategy early in his second term?

See The Two Minute Conservative via Google or: http://adrianvance.blogspot.com and when you speak ladies will swoon and liberal gentlemen will weep.

  15. bj Simone says:

We will be living this too soon enough. Obama just summarized UN Agenda 21 very succinctly. Cars, single family homes, AC, suburbs are all unsustainable according to Agenda 21. Live in a 400 sq ft unit along a rail line, ride a bike, don’t have kids and don’t live too long.

  16. Jimbo says:

If only these hypocritical greens lived for ONE month in a rural area of Cameroon with a very low carbon lifestyle. They would come out of it screaming for electricity, iPods, laptops, air-conditioning, washing machines, dishwashers etc.
