There’s also a good correlation with the trend in the total number of our gold medals (Oz) and the average global temperature anomaly. Lack of gold medals is causing cooling.
The correlation is spurious but I love the concept. Give us an election and we will see the Gold Medal Tally skyrocket as the athletes can breathe again.

The Oz government spent $60 Billion on internet, pink insulation batts and unused school rooms, will now spend tens of billions on so called carbon abatement and only spent $400 million on elite sports development over past 4 years.
