Unfortunately, the rains have largely missed Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Nebraska, northern Missouri, southern Minnesota, western Ohio. That area produces at least 80% of the US corn crop. That, plus periods of 100+ heat has already caused a substanial loss of the corn crop. Without substantial rain soon and with future heat waves, the crop could be a disaster. Thus we should be prepared for a round of extreme angst from alarmists.
The Cornbelt covers a small percentage of the US and a tiny percentage of the world. It his, however important to the world’s food supply. We were extremely fortunate to go 24 years without a drought in that area. That luck, however can historically last only so long. We had multiple similar crop failures long before CO2 became an issue.
Lets hope the corn crop gets a good shot of water then because the price of chicken feed is too high already.
