I put up a post stating temps don’t have much to do with ice loss…….apparently, DMI temps don’t, but GISS temps do, according to some……. something about coloring red and pink maps causes melt in areas with the ambient temp of 0…… its all very technical….. something about the energy release caused by the coloring I’d presume.
Leave and have a few beers and this is buried……sad….. I would have thought this was worth discussing………. How much ice loss is due to melt? Well, about none….some, but so insignificant it isn’t worth mentioning. It is one of the great lies of the alarmist community. Its not melting, its moving. The lie is perpetuated by some despicable people and useful idiots. There is no better place to apply the laws of thermodynamics, yet, it isn’t. Basically, there are two sources of heat……light and friction…… there’s nothing else. The light from above, in the arctic doesn’t supply enough heat to cause significant melt. The friction applied is mostly from below……where movement ensures the water doesn’t freeze.
The stupidity … it hurtsses.
The United States Army operates the Cold Regions Research and Engineering laboratory (CRREL). As part of their research each year they place several mass balance buoys in the Arctic. There are 11 buoys placed in 2010 or 2011. You can see the locations of the buoys here: http://imb.crrel.usace.army.mil/newdata.htm
Here’s the data summary for buoy 2011C (closest to the North Pole)
All of the snow and nearly 20% of the ice has melted from the surface – and that was data from a month ago. Current latitude: 88.043 degrees. Here’s data from a few of the other buoys:

Have you heard about wind which has a tendency to move snow around and erode ice because it is drier than the ice. The only thing you are providing is evidence that all the snow and 20% of the ice is no longer there, not why! Do you have the near surface temperature records? Are they corrupted by equipment type?
I looked and the temperature never got above Zero C and there is no current data!
