Not a problem. It’s rotten snow.
The Cairngorms are only 4,000 ft., not exactly Mt. Everest. It would be surprising if they were snow covered the year round. Maybe a freak summer snow once in a great while, but I doubt if it is “very common”.
Very common year round snow cover is a glacier. What have you been Smoking Peter!
