It is a peer-reviewed statistical truism that 97% of all apocalyptic projections destroy the planet, and the other third report that we all die.

  2. Eric Simpson says:

1969: “I’m scared,” the lean, intense scientist (Paul Ehrlich) told an interviewer. “I have a teenage daughter whom I love very much. I know a lot of young people, and their world is being destroyed – my world is being destroyed. I’m 37, and I’d like to live to be 67 in a reasonably pleasant world, not die in some kind of holocaust in the next decade.”
1989: “Entire nations could be wiped off the face of the Earth by rising sea levels if the global warming trend is not reversed by the year 2000. Coastal flooding and crop failures would create an exodus of eco-refugees, threatening political chaos.” -Noel Brown, ex UNEP Director
1982: “[Inaction will cause]… by the turn of the century [2000], an ecological catastrophe which will witness devastation as complete, as irreversible as any nuclear holocaust.” -Mustafa Tolba, former Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Program
2013: “If you leave us at 450ppm for long enough it will probably melt all the ice – that’s a sea rise of 75 metres. ” -James Hansen, NASA
1988: “[in twenty years {2008} ] the West Side Highway [and thus most of Manhattan] will be under water… And there will be tape across the windows across the street because of [constant] high winds. And the same birds won’t be there. The trees in the median strip will change. There will be more police cars. Well, you know what happens to crime when the heat goes up.” -James Hansen

Well, let’s see, the doomsayers have squawked and squawked for decades, and ALL the predictions of doom have not even been close to happening.
For instance, take sea level. Repeating what I said on an earlier thread: To think that in the 40 or so years that the fear mongering Chicken Littles have been crowing about rising sea levels, and despite supposed massive polar and glacial ice melt, we’ve seen NO sea level rise. NONE. Not 100 inches, but none. Now they’re saying in the next 40 years or whatever where going to see such massive rise that Colorado is the only remaining state above water. Right, in 40 years the sea is going to be exactly where it is now, and the $20 million Malibu mansions are going to be sitting pretty just where they are now, just exactly like they were 40 years ago.

This is one of those site you should have on your reader. Goddard makes me laugh… and cry… every day.

  4. Argiris Diamantis says:

Around 1990 the Belarus scientist Mikhail Budyko predicted a fast warming world. But he saw that not as a disaster, but as a return to Paradise.

  5. Stephen Richards says:

Steven, you forgot the Plonker Prince charlie. He said we had 4 months to change the climate or else about 2 years ago.

    • tckev says:

Please, have reverence, you are after all talking about a Right Royal Plonker (aka Prince Wingnut).
