It seems that identifying terrorists is not the main focus of the NSA. I suspect the main activity is to collect all possible data on Americans to give to the #1 enemy of America, the U.S. government.
I’m sure having SWAT teams randomly kick in peoples’ doors and rifling through their belongings would uncover some crime too.
They didn’t teach us about the Constitution when I was in school. I presume they still don’t. Having people understand the documents that define the structure and limits of government leads to too many people having opinions and asking uncomfortable questions. Better to just leave it to the ruling class.
And for those the-spying-was-completely-legal types may I remind you that slavery was completely legal at one point and too, in Germany, was rounding up and gassing Jews. So the question is what craziness will become legal in the future and what will the spying enable? With the government takeover of health care and the recent IRS scandals, perhaps only democrats will qualify for heart valve replacements, etc And maybe they’ll round up the Jews, or the Muslims, or the Baptists or the system administrators. Think it’s impossible?
