There is no doubt that the past few weeks have been very hot in Oklahoma, but the trend since the 1930s is towards much lower maximum temperatures.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

This has been an amazing heat wave, with quite a few all time record high temperatures from the 1930’s falling by the wayside. Also all time hottest month records as well. But the 1930’s heat was far more widespread and continued on and off for much of the decade.
The 1980 heat wave was somewhat similar to the one this summer.
Unlike the 1930’s or even the summers of 1983 and 1988, the US Corn Belt has not been hit too hard this summer.
