That said, it’s hard to ignore Hal and Judith. One was a real life giant in the science world a generation ago. The other a “rockstar” in the climate science community a couple of years ago. In some countries they have capital punishment and refuse to allow new DNA evidence that proves that some of those who are death row are innocent to be used !!!
If the UK had still had capital punishment in the 1970’s the Guilford four and the Birmingham six would have all been put to death by the state, yet they were all innocent framed by the state system so that they could be seen to be “doing something”.
One innocent life is not a cost that should be paid for putting to death the guilty, once one innocent is put to death all the money in the world, all the posthumous pardons and all the apologies are not enough as they can never give the life back. The system that committed the crime should itself be “done to death” under it’s own rules, for taking an innocent life and refusing to hear the cries of the innocent for true justice.
