Every ‘normal’ (center 80% of the Bell Curve) person is ‘afraid’ of the ‘unknown’, we generally don’t let the things we don’t know we don’t know worry us too much. Some who like to dwell on the things we don’t know we don’t know do worry a lot about them, but they are mostly academics and psychos who are bored to death or not. AND, there are also those who just like to see their name in print and will kiss anyone, or say/do anything to make it happen. As I recall, except for the war, 1969 was a good year; I don’t recall seeing or hearing anything about this issue. Sounds like a ‘nut’ trying to get his name in print.
1968 was the year of the student revolts in germany; 1967 was the “summer of love” of the Hippie movement. Maybe somewhere around this time Novosti planted the Global Warming meme? Given that it was later promoted by leftist anti-industrial-society scientists it could have been a USSR PsyOp from the start. Just a suspicion…

So it looks like 1969 saw a brief warming scare that quickly reversed to a few years of Cooling scare.
