I ddn’t know that winter there ever ended, at least not more than for a couple months.
You can tell winter has ended in Alaska when the sky disappears behind dark clouds of mosquitoes. Climate modelers often mislabel these as clouds of soot.
Barack is turning the dials!
Were you going to mention that the temperature units on your screenshot are in Celsius, not Fahrenheit, or were you leaving it up to your readers to figure that out on their own?
Were you going to mention that your comment is written in English, not Swahili, or were you leaving it up to your readers to figure that out on their own?
I know, right?! And was he going to mention the link he posted doesn’t actually go to the Weather Underground, the militant student group from the 60s? I mean, come on! [/sarc]
How do know they’re not Kelvin?
Autumn arrives in Alaska.
Arctic – biggest exporter of cold air in North Hemispere…However, Hansen defines this as Pink…
A little help here please. How, exactly, does one tell the difference between winter and summer up there? 🙂
1 month of bad sledding…
Mosquitoes.
I was expecting a warmer to get anal retentive and say “Winter starts on December 21!”
In the Tanana and Yukon flats, the summer temperatures can and do rise into the 80’s frequently and always have. The winter temperatures dive as the sun sets and at times the upper Copper River Basin can and do fall to -67 degrees F, as they usually do.
The school districts make the kids wait for the bus at -49 F, but school is cancelled at -50 F.
We did have a 92 degree day in 2004 when the wild fires were kicking in, but the temperature dropped back into the 80’s as the smoke layer moved in:)
Last winter we had 16 days where it never rose above -40 F, and that entails “Survival of The Fittest”.
The wife has been secretly closing the windows at night here in Sweden. Our summer that never happened is over. Leaves are turning and the air is crisp. I love the winter and the snow, it will be sad times for me when CAGW kicks in…. LOL
29 deg C here in Perth on Sunday.
Stupid stat on weather report was: “Hottest September day in 6 years”
22.7 max today. Lovely spring weather.
Anchorage/Kenai Peninsula was cool to cold this summer, and there was a fair amount of snow remaining on the mountains when I left Aug 18. Seems to be the 4th coldest on record.
