    They probably send out a scouting party before being transported to their starting point for each of their “Walks” back to the main camp. It appears they are joining the rest of the climatologists in redefining the word “Science”!

    I am perplexed; surely they could get in their canoes and swim there? Wot’s all this talk about ice and cold; isn’t the Arctic melting?

    -24 degrees, and with slushey ice……..

    Pretty bloody obvious that the arctic water has been frozen so many times it’s wearing out………..

    If we could get some new water up into the arctic, maybe we could save the arctic ice!!!

    Geoengineering! It’s going to save this planet yet!

      Just build a swimming desal plant at the North pole to provide sweetwater that freezes more easily.

      Hmmm, i could apply for a EU research grant…

    I wonder what the maximum ice thickness they’ll have this year. Do you think they will drill down through the ice from the top of the ridge? Will they survey a region around the hole drilled through a flat spot to determine an average that includes the visible ridges into the “scientific” results, or will they measure the depth of the hole and forget about the ridges extending out as far as the eye can see?

    Has anyone seen any tabulated or published results from these ice adventures?

    I saw a note where they burn about 8000 cal /day. Maybe next years “The Biggest Loser” show can tag along with the expedition to get more publicity.
