Current corals are doing just fine with current trace elements.
What would cause higher trace elements and why wouldn’t corals cope?

We should never bet against mother nature. Bikini Atoll corals thrive after nuclear blast. Some plants show etensive staure. Some corals extinct though. See my references below:
