Dubai Discovers That Sand Erodes

I think now would be a great time for NASA, in an effort to achieve their mission to better engage muslims, to spend million$$$$ to immediately send a NASA team to Dubai to remind them that muslims are really good at scientific stuff.
Hey …. so sorry, the 90 day warranty just expired !

PT Barnum exits the room…….
Buyer beware!
That is what Sand does! It is probably in the contract!
Dubai wants to build a rotating building. What could go wrong?
I often had wondered, “did anyone think about this first?” when I first read about them building these islands. I couldn’t help but to ask myself in wonder “so, how long do you suppose that will last?”
Just gotta laugh …
Amino Acids, if they can’t seem to manage a little sand in an intelligent fashion, who do you suppose those rotating buildings are going to work out. ROFLMAO .. thanks for sharing!!! .. may be fun to watch… {popcorn anyone?}
Finally! Some islands that actually are disappearing. See AGWers were right!
lol!
Well actually those islands are shaped like real countries and it’s only the maldives one that’s sinking.
Hows that German Coast Guard Video go? “we’re sinking we’re sinking….”
I’m sure they will find a solution for their problems.
This really is an amazing project but a mistake was made to solely rely on the sand covered with with a netting and rock material and boulders to protect the waterline.
One of the Dutch advisors who was involved in the project proposed to apply a layer of 60 cm of clay as a waterproof sealant between the sand and the anti erosion cover of boulders.
He was right of course because we have build all our dikes this way and many of them are a few hundred years old and still standing, despite the pounding forces of the North Sea Waves. Off the coast of the UAE there are hardly any waves at all.
Sand depletion is the way to go to for the moment but that layer of water sealing clay is the only right solution and probably the cheapest.
I see opportunities for an clay for oil program here.
The alternative is to seal the waterline with foil or concrete.
It’s only a matter of money.
