BioBob, as I consider myself a conservative – Manchin IS way to the left on the American political spectrum from myself, so are many RINOs(Specter which I will never forgive Bush for supporting last time around) – so in my book Manchin IS a leftist. Where we each mark the center is key.
Here in Sweden the ruling Moderates which are considered center right are no better than dixiecrats and not what I would consider on the right or right on many matters… BTW: the communist party in Sweden rebranded themselves in the 1990s from Vänsterpartiet kommunisterna, VPK to Vänsterpartiet, the left party, but that is just lipstick on a pig. The left is big on rebranding. Another thing that always bothered me is how the heck the Democrats were declared to be blue on the map instead of communist red?

Like a lot of Democrats Manchin claims to be “centrist” or even conservative, but he votes right down the leftist Democrat party line. A ton of Democrats that claimed to be “moderate” but who actually enthusiastically supported Obama/Pelosi/Reid agenda were just voted out of office.

Wow! I did not know Manchin ran those ads in California, he must have had a lot more campaign money than I was aware of. I did not see that ad run here in neighboring Virginia and had to seek it out on the internet. Who knew he needed California votes so much?
BTW, Manchin may be a Democrat, but when it comes to coal he is a West-by-God-Virginian. I have heard him speak in support of coal in person, with no press filter.
