Mangling, Massaging, Torturing, Blending, Purifying, Extrapolating, WAGing, Hallucinating. any of those words could be used rather than Crunching and the end result will be the same from GISS. The motto for GISS and NOAA should be changed to “Prefecting the GIGO method of reporting our findings”
Just before the 2010 winter Olympics in Vancouver we had a deep freeze and tons of snow shutting the city down. Had they scheduled the darn events then everybody would have been complaining about how frigging cold it was. Vancouver is usually wet and cold hovering just above zero during our winters during the day except for one to three or four weeks during the winter. Usually.
Last winter: http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=vancouver+weather+nov+2009+to+march+2010
This winter (so far): http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=vancouver+weather+nov+2010+to+march+2011
Very interesting, Vancouver weather from 1971 to Today: http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=vancouver+weather+from+1971+to+2011. You can see that on average over the past 40 winters the temperature in Vancouver ranges from 3c to 20c. So what did they expect having an olympics here?
I also lived in Edmonton during the 1970’s, now that’s where the winter olympics would have been better! http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=edmonton+weather+from+1971+to+2011.
The years I lived in Edmonton it got to -46c! and as hot as 33c! That’s a difference of 79c degrees and I survived that HUGE temperature difference no problem!!!
Last night I had a conversation with friend who I grew up with in Edmonton who is pro-warming and it’s just stunning to me that he’s all freaked out about a couple of C difference when he and I both lived through 79c temperature variations!!!
Humans are adaptable.
I hate the way these crooks have hijacked the language. “Weather is local but Climate is global.” What a load of BS.
Climate is local and regional. the ‘climate’ of one area can differ markedly from an adjacent area.
It was just an idiot writing a letter to the editor, can’t expect an emotional response to contain facts.
