Why do these ecotards insists on the US improving fuel efficiency as the only way to reduce our dependency on foreign sources? Why do they refuse to understand we could dramatically reduce our dependency on foreign oil if we would DRILL HERE and DRILL NOW? We could also improve our fuel efficiency at the same time and get a double bang out of the deal.
MTD is right on; the simplist solution to the multitude of problems in the article is become energy-independent. Although our gutless politicians lack the courage and vision, we need a President who declares that the United States will become energy-independent in ten years, much as President Kennedy declared that the United States would put a man on the moon within ten years (and we did)!
