Congressman Thinks Gaming Nerds In Their Mother’s Basement Are Killing People

“Video games are a key component of the nation’s violence problem … As a grandparent or a parent, to pretend these violent video games don’t make a difference — it’s crazy.”

Rep. Wolf (R-VA)

Representative Wolf thinks these people are video gamers.

I don’t think it’s ridiculous to think that vulgar, violent video games, movies, etc. have something to do with the violence and brutality with which too many people behave. Did you see Pulp Fiction? It can’t be healthy to watch or play such filth. It’s “feeding the wrong dog.”

But I suspect that the fact that 1/4 of American babies die by “choice” has a much greater brutalizing influence on our youth.

RE: daveburton – “It can’t be healthy to watch or play such filth”

Can we ban Ezekiel 23, Judges 19-20, Gen 34 and a few other chapters while we are at it? It can’t be healthy to read that.

What would you banned during Tamerlane’s childhood to prevent the 90,000 head pyramid? There must have been a child’s violent game at fault.

Violence was committed long before video games, and no I don’t think we should ban books or movies or games.

“Authorities said the daily routine of the Case gang members was lounging around the house, smoking weed, playing video games and getting high on “robo,” street slang for Robitussin cough syrup, and then inevitably piling into a car and going on a “hunt” for their enemies or robbery opportunities. “They don’t have jobs. They’re not in school. They don’t have days off. These are crooks. They have to keep busy,” Jordan said.”

Unfortunately the NRA leadership signs up to the same kind of nonsense, which greatly diminished my respect for them and hurt their ability to be a voice of reason in the public debate.

A lot people just can’t accept that some simply aren’t wired correctly.

Some people just want to watch the world burn.

Actually they are training to be drone pilots:

There are drones, of course, which offer the consolations of technological bad-assery, as if Liam Neeson could take out all the Albanians from the X-Box in his basement.

Soon Obama will ask Congress to approve the Xbox Medal.
