I can not know. All I can do is see what has been happening and try to figure out why. What is SAID by Washington and what is DONE by Washington just does not seem rational.
For example 9/11 happened, most of the terrorists were Saudis and they passed the Patriot act as a result. Yet our borders to the south are wide open, the border fence promised has not been built. National guard units from the border states have been yanked and sent over seas so states can no patrol. Yet there are KNOWN Muslim terrorist groups in South America and evidence of Muslims coming over the border has been found.
On top of that TSA terrorized little three year old girls in wheelchairs and grannys on walkers but the US government gives Saudi travelers preferred/expedited traveler status. DHS draws up lists of average Americans and calls them extremists and terrorists. Why the heck should a Christian who believes marriage is between a man and a woman be placed on a watch list or someone with a Ron Paul bumper sticker? Aren’t there real terrorists the government should target instead? Or are normal Americans the enemy? You really have to wonder.
The country today certainly bares no resemblance to the USA in the 1970s.

A C Osborn asks about ammo that the US government bought. I think he is referring to the hollow-point rounds that cannot possibly be used militarily without going against the Geneva convention. That and the ‘training’ that homeland security is giving police departments, and the ‘surplus’ military equipment that is being given police departments. Then there were the shooting targets that looked like moms and (possibly even kids) that were going to police departments.
Each of these by themselves may not mean so much, but taken altogether, these do tend to excite imaginations. It is fairly clear to me that the time will come (if it has not passed already) that we can no longer trust the US government to be just doing those things that it was instituted to do. (Provide for common defense and just a few other things that had been explicitly outlined in the constitution and amendments)
I don’t want to be an alarmist, but there are certainly a number of warning signs for those who bother to pay attention.

The moves made by the US government recently certainly do not give anyone who is alive and awake a feeling of security.
