Sequestered Brains

If Obama goes through with his threat to fire school teachers after four years of failed opportunities to cut spending, he will be eviscerated. It will be obvious that he is using teachers as a political pawn. That is the only place he could think of to cut spending????

Republicans are holding a straight flush, Obama has nothing – and Republicans are about to fold. What a bunch of complete losers.

  7. I suggest, that when it comes to high office, the Inverse Peter Principle is at work: one rises inversely proportional to the level of ones competency and demonstrated performance. The person least capable of performing to the requirements of the position is the one who wins the position. It follows that Obama and all of congress have achieved their position BECAUSE they were the least competent to fill their positions. The consequences can be deduced as a logical exercise of reaching a conclusion from a coherent set of premises.

The Democrats will propose programs that are guaranteed not to achieve their promised results. The Republicans will strive to be better Democrats than the Democrats. Both parties promise to do better the next time by doing more of the same things that caused the problems in the first place. We the People pay for the consequences with our lives, our wealth, and or sacred honor but we still vote for them.

The Government we have is the last kind of Government we need. Unfortunately, it may be the last Government we will have. Reality will eventually impose its terms upon us when there is no more kicking the can down the road. For instructive detail see the history of past civilizations. They ALL drove themselves to extinction by following much the same path.

Is there an out? Yes. As long as we are alive we can choose a better path. Will we? I hope so but a hope is all I have. The evidence suggests otherwise.

EM Smith often tells those who will listen that hope is not a strategy!

    • If I knew anything better than hope, I would be screaming it to the mountain tops.

In my more pessimistic moods, I see our civilization collapsing followed by a 10,000 year dark ages such that the Mad Max world will seem like a day at Disneyland. In my more optimistic moods, the dark ages will only last a 1000 years. As I said, our only chance comes from most of us choosing a better path. As long as we are alive, the chance is small but not zero. Hence, my tiny sliver of hope. At least that chance and consequent sliver of hope keeps me alive and able to fight for what I know to be a better way: reason, reality, logic and respect for individual rights.

All I have to do is convince two people so that they each will convince two people. It will take slightly more than 32 such doublings to convince everyone in the world. Since the overwhelming majority of the population are followers, the job could be done by fewer doublings.

  9. I suppose the Republicans think they can win a substantial house majority if they let the US economy collapse, and after the period of civil unrest, of course. 😐
