Unemployed people in Spain describe their hunt for work
Spanish unemployment has hit a new record high, official figures have shown.The number of unemployed people reached 5,639,500 at the end of March, with the unemployment rate hitting 24.4%, the national statistics agency said.
The figures came hours after rating agency Standard & Poor’s downgraded Spanish sovereign debt.
Official figures due out on Monday are expected to confirm that Spain has fallen back into recession.
Obama sees the Spanish economy as a model for the US to follow.

I am for technological advancement but right now China produces 97% of the world’s rare earth elements used in all of the USA smart technology. China banned export of REE to the USA and that is why Apple makes IPods and IPhones in China. The same goes for solar cells and wind power, and any investment in current green projects primarily shifts jobs to China. Until the USA can produce wind power without REEs, as Boulder Wind Power plans to do at 4 cents/kWh, I see no reason to rush into solar and wind projects that will benefit mostly China and their current monopoly on REEs. Lastly solar and wind projects do not create very many permanent jobs. Vermont did a economic study for a green energy initiative and from that report I calculated that each permenant job required $6.7 million.
Here is the sad reality of poor government planning at the behest of green fanaticism. Energy that does not do much to lower CO2 at a cost 3 to 5 times higher than grid average.
