You don’t have to be a scientist to know to accommodate green energy you need twice the capacity that includes a traditional energy source. But you do need a wee bit of common sense. So the economic impact is absurd to double the cost of the infrastructure. Then there are staffing costs that further increase the price of producing power. No ordinary person would ever do that with their own money. But spending other people’s money makes the sky the limit! There are just far too many highly educated stupid, reckless people out there!
In the UK, since 2012, CO2/MWh has fallen to about a fifth of its 2012 level.
The power generated produces so much less CO2 due to massive adoption of the so called ‘cheaper renewables’ yet, we pay more for electricity now than we have ever done.
I suggest that in the future when they say ‘renewables are cheaper that you remember that they mean renewables are cheaper for energy companies to run and maintain, but because they wont pass on any of those savings to cinsumers, the consumer pays more so that the energy companies and their shareholders profit more
