It’s Not About The Safety, Stupid

99% of American gun deaths involve handguns, most of which being illegal. Yet no Federal attempt is being made to deal with this problem. No Federal attempt is being made to beef up school security.

Obama is doing nothing to make America’s schools or streets safer. His entire focus is on confiscating legally owned rifles, which cause fewer deaths in the US than baseball bats.

You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass.

Over 80% of all gun murders are committed by black and hispanic gang members, and they always use pistols. However, these are protected groups, and their crmes cannot even be mentioned.

New York city radically reduced gun violence by imposing stop-ans-frisk on the gangs. This policy is now under attack in the courts.

  2. The last federal attempt at controlling handguns was back in the Nixon era. The Senate actually got the bill passed, but it never made it past the House.

They used a “crisis” then, too: the shooting of George Wallace.

    • ROFLMAO : What a stupid comparison.

Andy, Japan has a totally different demographic than the US. Only one percent of the population is foreign. Compare our most dangerous areas’ demographics with that of Japan, and see if you can find a difference.

“According to Interpol, South Africa has the highest recorded per capita murder rate of the countries covered in their report for 1998, second only to Columbia. In that year, Interpol recorded the per capita murder rate in the USA as 6 per 100 000, while in South Africa it was 59 per 100 000.”

South Africa has very strict gun laws, especially for automatic rifles.

Could gun crime have a lot to do with demographics and sociopathy/psychopathy rather than gun laws? Are there US laws controlling either of these factors?

I keep hearing that quote that the Japanese didn’t invade the USA because the citizens were so well armed. I am sure that the quote is correct. However, I think that the reality is that our country was much larger than their country and that they would have had to transport their troops and equipment over thousands of miles of ocean before they could even begin such an assault.
During that same time period, Germany was not able to cross a much smaller body of water to invade a much smaller country. And, of course, the quote seems to ignore that fact that our Armies were very formidable.
The problem with advocating hatred of certain individuals and groups is that reason is often sacrificed for advocacy.
