    The protracted freeze continues to plague the UK and Europe, as analysts warn that England may run out of gas by April 8th, as demand is strong, and amazingly they are now in the process of drastically cutting back their own energy generating capability for no apparent reason (oh, sorry it’s for global warming climate change).
    An article related to this ongoing freeze and potential gas & power crisis in the UK says that the UK policy of closing all their coal plants, consigning them to likely future energy disasters, will actually help INCREASE coal use, as the UK policy will contribute to reducing demand (and thus price) for coals products, and so help establish coal as the energy source of choice in much of the rest of the world. It’s costly green insanity at work. From the article:

    Coal has become much cheaper because of the use of fossil fuel in the US in the past five years, where a massive increase in the supply of cheap gas is attributed to fracking, the controversial method of blasting dense rocks apart under high pressure. The coal that would have been burned in the US is now available on international markets at cut-price, and has now become “the preferred fuel”, according to SSE.
    That is the opposite of what the government, and the EU intended by their energy policies in the past decade. Coal was supposed to become more expensive than gas, because of the EU’s emissions trading scheme, which puts a price on carbon emissions.

    Most of the UK’s nuclear power plants are slated for closure by 2022, and many coal-fired stations must be closed or run at reduced capacity within the next few years because of EU rules on pollution.
    Experts have warned for years of a looming “energy gap” between demand and supply. The building of wind farms and other forms of renewable energy, which were supposed to fill the gap, has been below expectations.

    Notice the 0.49 temperature anomaly. The World Climate Widget on the Claes Johnson blog site shows 0.18, 0.3 degrees cooler than Hansen’s Pride. It is all laughable, and damnable if you are an honest, responsible scientist.

    Every town/city from Brisbane south to Taree and and out to the Northern Tablelands and North Western slopes had below average mean temps during February this year. Some places had their lowest or equal lowest on record.
    Yet on Hansen’s map it is showing up as +0.2C – +0.5C. He has either:-
    * adjusted the 1951 – 1980 data way below the actual temps or;
    * or adjusted this region’s temps very much upward;
    * or shaded the area out using some formula only known to him.
    This map is a sham and he should be held to account.
