On August 27th, a friend broke his neck mountain biking northwest of Boulder. He has been in the hospital for five months, and finally came home yesterday. His mobility is extremely limited, but he can move his hands a little bit now. Here is a note from his wife.
the first thing I did when we got him in the unit was to simply hug him and cry-I have been waiting for him to come home since around 8:10pm on August 27th…it has been a really long and eventful wait.

Ban bikes. Ban mountains. Just think what could have happened if there had been a school up there. Oh — ban schools.
To ensure that future generations are not affected, they should ban future generations. Think of the children, for Gods sake!
It happened on a road. They should ban roads.
Scratch that, they should ban trails.
Well….hopefully some day, he can get back on a bike…small steps…
Like you Steve, I put on a few Km’s this summer, and had way to many ‘close’ calls…especially those 10mph stops that people make at stop signs on rural roads…
I climbed up a European Alp last summer (Rocher de la Loze 2526m). The path up was a single file goat track with many sharp zigzags and quite exposed (ie long drop if you fell off the track). At the summit there were a male and female (both German) with their bikes! They set off down the way I had come up. The way I went down (possibly the way they had come up) was equally steep and consisted largely of large, loose, sharp, broken rocks which were difficult to walk on with many exposed places too.
I was surprised to say the least!
Wouldn’t it be nice if the billions devoted to building climate models was devoted to neurological research instead.

Republicans did ban research into neurochemistry, I note, something very strongly related to the lack of medical advances in the field and directly responsible for the lowly state of psychiatric drugs that are now leading to school massacres. Interest in psychoactive drugs quickly became the widely acknowledged “kiss of death” of an academic career exactly as today we only have a tiny number (Willy Soon and who else?) of young scientists who dare speak out about global warming fraud.

Sorry about your friend. May I assume he’s paraplegic? If regains enough use of his arms, perhaps someday we’ll see him in the Chicago Marathon racing in a hand-cycle.
