He, and other world leaders, are delusional. The scientific community fed their ego-centric delusions in exchange for grant funds and a chance to share in the imaginary power of world leaders.

The responses of world leaders and leaders of the scientific community to this 1945 discovery were much like those of ego-, geo-centric world leaders and their advisors to the 1543 discovery by Copernicus that the Sun is a fountain of energy at the center of the solar system.
Despite the great advances in science and society since the time of Copernicus and Galileo, the basic personality traits of humans have remained unchanged. That is why today we face the same conflict of scientific reality with the grandiose illusions of politicians and armies of publicly financed advisors.
