Paul Beckwith predicted the Arctic would be ice-free in 2013, and now he is warning of accelerated melting timelines.
Why Arctic sea ice will vanish in 2013 | Sierra Club Canada
There has been no trend in the Arctic sea ice minimum, mean or maximum extent for eighteen years.

This is great Tony,
I can just cut’n’paste from a long list of “skeptical” fellows!
The title is mere clickbait, however:
“There has been no trend in the Arctic sea ice minimum, mean or maximum extent for eighteen years.”
What does the 18 year data reveal about Arctic Sea Ice age?
Here’s a clue:

What do we need ice at the poles for? What good does ice do for anybody, animal or plant? Nothing lives there, especially humans, might as well be Pluto. People who argue about wanting more ice at the poles should move to Siberia and keep their clap traps shut.
Hi Morgan,
Because it reflects short wave radiation:
https://nsidc.org/learn/parts-cryosphere/sea-ice/science-sea-ice#anchor-sea-ice-properties
“Sea ice has a much higher albedo compared to many other Earth surfaces, particularly the surrounding ocean. A typical ocean albedo is approximately 0.06, while bare sea ice varies from approximately 0.5 to 0.7. This means that the ocean reflects only 6 percent of the incoming solar radiation and absorbs the rest, while sea ice reflects 50 to 70 percent of the incoming energy. The sea ice absorbs less solar energy and keeps the surface cooler.”
Think about it.
Sea ice around Antarctica only exists in the southern winter, when the sun doesn’t shine. Why would you care about albedo when there is no sun?
In the Arctic, there is always sea ice at the North Pole, winter and summer. So why would you care about the albedo when there is always ice?
The amount of solar radiation that hits earth from the arctic and antarctic circles to their respective poles is 2% of the total solar radiation that hits Earth. Why would you care about the albedo of 2% of the radiation that hits Earth?
Believe it or not Morgan, I have thought about it.
I don’t care about albedo when there is no sun! The title above includes the word “Arctic”.
“There is always sea ice at the North Pole”.
Sadly that is no longer true:

Betcha still can’t embed images in comments here?
Unreal!
