Understanding NASA Temperature Adjustments

Strong amounts of recent urban warming have corrupted the temperature record, and forced NASA experts to further warm the newer urban regions, and further cool the older more rural areas. If this seems counter intuitive, that is simply because your paycheck doesn’t depend on pushing a particular agenda.

    I notice that NASA today launched a satellite to study soil moisture levels to help to deal with floods and droughts. Call me a neanderthal but is that really something we can’t do without? You can’t effectively, and much less expensively, study soil moisture levels from right here on terra firma?

        Yeah, and also, by measuring from space, the data is not watered down (!) by looking at deeper soil horizons or anything like that.

      This is yet again another “instrument” designed to yell “fire” in a crowded theater. From the “Science” part of the mission site, emphasis mine:

      “Recent model simulations of the effects of greenhouse gases on climate show that current models agree quite well in predicting temperature change but disagree significantly in predicting surface moisture change and water resource availability.”

      It doesn’t get any better when you read how this thing’s supposed to work it’s even worse. From the “Instrument” part of the mission site, emphasis mine:

      “The L-band frequency enables observations of soil moisture through moderate vegetation cover, independent of cloud cover and night or day. Multiple polarizations enable accurate soil moisture estimates to be made with corrections for vegetation, surface roughness, Faraday rotation, and other perturbing factors.

      Accurate estimates? And this thing will be smart enough to tell the difference between wet grass and wet dirt… I’m not buying any of it. Maybe it would work on a desert but anywhere else is gonna be a crap shoot. And I got to help pay for it…. Arghhhh!

    Also important if a station cools, remove it just like the Melbourne station was because started cooling too much surrounded by concrete buildings. New form of “Science”

      Melbourne and surrounds have hundreds of temperature monitors. Loosing one due to an issue will not make any difference.

    More funding = More bullshit outta NASA…

    Progressives always refer to “the Science” without ever daring to look into it themselves… 2014 Coldest Year Ever??… How?… These tools demand we deny the obvious… Accelerating Sea Level Rise while the Planet grows more and more ICE??… Total Garbage …
