Since the start of satellite records 20 years ago, sea level in British Columbia has been falling. Scientists are trying to determine how much of this drop in sea level is due to rapidly melting glaciers in Greenland, and how much is due to rapidly melting glaciers in Antarctica.

Yep that’s for sure. Melting ice will make seas levels lower. it’s like heating a pan of water on the stove and waiting for it to freeze…
Umm, ice caps melting causes the sea level to FALL?
Ice melts, more water, sea level rises, no? Or does the expansion of freezing water make up the difference?
More likely, the systems are too complex for us puny humans to analyze properly and we are too arrogant to admit we really don’t know for sure what is happening.

It is entirely possible that British Columbia is still rebounding from the weight of ice in the last ice age, which could be interpreted as a lowering of sea level. There are fiords along the BC coast that are as spectacular as any in Scandinavia, which is also still rebounding. Unless you have a way of discerning which effect you are seeing, you don’t know anything.
Andy, it is your lack of scientific accuracy that allows the “Deniers” to argue with the facts. It was not 35 degrees, it was 34.98 degrees, it was not 2hours but 2hours 4 mins and 13 seconds, and finally it was 96.83% of the Greenland icecap that melted.
You know how these people pick on the slightest discrepancy to avoid facing the overwhelming, undeniable consensus of both the climate (part-time) scientists.

A question:
Is there enough evaporation taking place over the Pacific, which pours rain over all of Western North America, to make a dent in the ocean level? I realize a lot of it finds its way back into the ocean, but there is a goodly amount absorbed by the land, which in turn is used for vegetative growth, which might never find its way into our rivers. Just asking.
