Dad’s Army was one of my favorite English shows during the 1960s, probably second after Monty Python’s Flying Circus.

Dad’s Army was a classic. It probably wouldn’t be allowed now due to some kind on EU xenophobia law.
It’s still being shown on BBC every week. Allo allo!, by the same writers and based around the French resistance, is apparently very popular in Germany.
Still, Dunn will be missed. They don’t make them like that anymore.
And oddly, whilst much (not all) of Python is pretty unfunny now (unlike Fawlty Towers), Dad’s Army has stood the test of time well. From the days when the BBC served the public rather then themselves.
I am a lifelong MP fan. And I hate seeing Mr. Mannering’s generation pass. Condolences.
