Not true; Trump doesn’t do facts, the first real politico/economic use of global warming was in the UK.
In the 1970s, British Foreign Office mandarin, Sir Crispin Tickell, took sabbatical to study climatology at Harvard and to write Climate Change and World Affairs – (on the perils of global cooling). At the outset of the UKs 1984 Miners’ Strike, Tickell recommended Mageret Thatcher explore Climate Change as a promising anti-coal pretext. Thatcher invited Tickell to Number 10 & he advised Thatcher from 1984 onwards, they used the threat of global warming to help break the strike. ( The ruse was so successful that many governments around the world saw it as an easy way of control.)
Between 1988 and 1990, Thatcher delivered a series of speeches that crackled with passion for green causes, ozone hole, global warming.
The Chinese used their huge pool of cheep labour to build an industrial powerhouse in order to make ‘rest of the world’ manufacturing non-competitive, copying the tactics of 19th century Europe & America.
