(3) Adrian Ramsay MP on X: “Expanding London’s airports & a third runway at Heathrow would be incredibly irresponsible amid a climate crisis. The PM knows this – he voted against a third runway in 2018. Has he now changed his mind? Because he wouldn’t answer a straight question from me at #PMQs. https://t.co/tvgcGDu1qV” / X

The internet is now responsible for more CO2 annually than all of global aviation is.

    Aviation

In 2023, aviation accounted for 2.05% of human-induced CO2 emissions. This is similar to the amount of power needed to run the internet’s servers and transmission cables.

    Internet

The carbon footprint of internet and social media devices accounts for 3.7% of global greenhouse gas emissions. This is more than the amount produced by aviation.

Quite a potent observation. That means I can abandon my Icarus waxed wing project and go back to flying private! My iPhone is battery powered, so when I’m online with Safari it’s net zer0, all green, or whatever! I’m very proud to do my part, sorta like the people that drive EVs thus living a fantasy life!
